Vocabuary Module 3

1.  decimal- The numbers in the base 10 number system, having one or more places to the right of a decimal point. ( ex.   1.2   Money uses decimals   $1.25)
2. dividend-  The number to e divided in a division problem. In a / b = ca is the dividend.

3. divisor- The number you are dividing by in a division problem.  In a / b = cb is the divisor.
4. fraction-  A number in the form a/b , where b CANNOT equal zero.
5.  whole number- The set of numbers that includes zero and all of the natural numbers(the counting numbers).
6. rational number-A number that can be expressed as a ratio of two integers and can be written in the form a/b where a and b are integers and b CANNOT equal zero.
7 integer- A member of the set of whole numbers and their opposites. (. . . . . ,-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3. . . . .)

Week of 9/8/2015

1.  distributive property    The Distributive Property is easy to remember, if you recall that "multiplication distributes over addition". Formally, they write this property as "a(b + c) = ab + ac". In numbers, this means, that 2(3 + 4) = 2×3 + 2×4.
2..  product-product is the result of multiplying
3.  multiples-  The result of multiplying a number by an integer (not a fraction).
4. factors-Factors are numbers you can multiply together to get another number: Example: 2 and 3 are factors of 6, because 2 × 3 = 6.
5. greatest common factor -The largest common factor of two or more given numbers.
6. least common multiple-The smallest number, other than zero, that is a multiple of two or more given numbers.
