Take your multiplication quiz and write the quiz questions with CORRECT answers 3 x each.



cluster Data that appear to be grouped closely together.

gap An empty space or interval in a set of data.

mean The sum of the data divided by the number of pieces of data.

median The middle number in a set of ordered data. 

If there are an even number of data, the median is the mean of the two middle numbers.

measures of central tendency Values that describe the center of a set of data.

mode The number or numbers that occur most often in a set of data.

outlier A data value that is much greater or much less than the others in a data set.

range The difference between the greatest and least values of a set of data.

Extra Credit!!!

6th gr.- MRS. HIMMEL- 2ND qtr

Data Analysis: EXTRA CREDIT (please put it on construction paper or use poster board)

A RULER needs to be used for straight lines!!!


1.    Select 4 popular FLORIDA travel destinations. Ex. Disney,
2.    Survey 20 people (or more) your family, friends, neighbors etc. on which of the 4 locations they’d most like to visit.
3.    Keep track of their responses on a tally chart in which you create two frequency charts to display their answer.  Be sure to separate the adult response from the student responses.
4.    You will be creating a double bar graph comparing the adult –vs- children.
5.    The horizonal axis must have the four locations and the vertical axis must have equal intervals (not necessarily by 1’s).
6.    Make the adult and child bar different colors but connected above each location.
7.    Find the mean, median, mode, and range for the adult vs the child responses.

The extra credit is due:  Friday- Nov. 19 or Monday- November 22 on construction paper or half a poster board.  DO NOT TURN IN SOMETHING THAT YOU DID NOT USE A RULER TO MAKE ME STRAIGHT LINES.  DO NOT TURN IN SOMETHING THAT IS JUST THROWN TOGETHER.  I WILL NOT ACCEPT MESSY WORK OR WORK THAT LOOKS AS IF IT TOOK YOU 5 MINUTES.
It will graded on: creativity, neatness, presentation, accuracy of the graph.

PLEASE, NO PROJECTS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THANKSGIVING BREAK.  NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

Monday: Color Wars - 6th grade wear as much Orange as possible
Tuesday: Mismatch Day - wear clothing that doesn't match
Wednesday: Multiplicity Day - to get as many students to dress alike as possible
Thursday: Support the Troops Day - Veteran's Day - Day off
Friday: Spirit Day, wear our school colors; Green, White, and Black / face painting for $1.00









Period 1 Homeroom Class is still collecting food items for the Harvest Food Drive. GMS has made a commitment to feed over 200 families this year. Let's help make some families holiday season a happy one. Kindly send in your non perishable food items this week. The students have committed to help feed one family.
