Surface area is the area of each shape in a 3 dimensional object added up. You must add up all the faces(shapes). A rectangular prism or cube has 6 faces! A triangular pyramid has 4 faces. A rectangular pyramid has 5 faces!
The bottom of the shape names the 3d figure!
